Installing Tasker

Download the Tasker app on your Android device.
Create a new task and notice the types of things you can automate. Hit the play icon in the bottom left to tesk your task. Next click the profiles tab and create a condition or event you would like to have happen in order to trigger your task.
Read online for lots of ideas and .xml files of projects you can import in tasker. The Tasker website, Reddit and the Tasker Google Group are all good resources.
